Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I buy family travel insurance?

We aim to help you save money and minimise stress, and give you the right support and advice when you need it most. By placing each family member on the same family travel insurance policy, you don’t need to worry about buying individual policies for each family member. And because we offer special rates for families, you’ll usually make some savings too.

Travelling with children makes it more important than ever to ensure you’re covered while you’re away. An unexpected issue – such as lost luggage, illness or an accident – could bring your dream holiday to an abrupt end. Travelling with the right cover can help you to relax on holiday, knowing your loved ones are protected against unexpected eventualities.

Should I buy Annual family travel insurance or Single Trip family travel insurance?

The travel insurance policy that’s best for you will depend on how often you travel. If you’re only taking one family holiday this year, then our Single Trip family travel insurance is best suited to your needs. But, if you’re going away more than once, then our Annual family travel insurance may turn out to be the most cost-effective solution. This is because you’ll need travel insurance each time you go away, so covering multiple holidays on one insurance policy may be cheaper than buying multiple Single Trip policies.

Does family travel insurance cover individuals travelling alone?

Insured adults are covered to travel independently. Child independent travel is only covered if the child is travelling with at least one adult aged 18 or over and with the full knowledge and consent of an insured parent/guardian.

Can I buy worldwide family travel insurance?

Whether you’re heading to Australia to see the Sydney Opera House or visiting the animals on safari in South Africa, we have a policy that can cover you. For worldwide travel, we offer family holiday insurance that includes or excludes America.

Our ‘Worldwide (including USA and Canada)' cover takes into account the higher cost of medical treatment in North America. In North America, the cost of healthcare can be incredibly expensive. This is because there’s no equivalent of the NHS, and most residents have private health insurance. As a result, if you’re booking travel insurance for America or Canada, your premium is likely to be higher.

If you choose ‘Worldwide (excluding USA and Canada)', you’re protected for worldwide travel as long as you’re not visiting North America. If you’re travelling worldwide but you’re not planning on visiting America or Canada, you may find that our worldwide family travel insurance excluding USA and Canada offers you a lower premium.

What about family travel insurance for Europe?

We offer family holiday insurance that specifically covers you for European travel. This means you can make the most of the beautiful food in France’s big cities, spend a week lounging on the beach in the Canary Islands or visit one of Spain’s family-friendly holiday resorts.

Plus, our family travel insurance for Europe comes with over lots of sports and activities included, so you can scuba dive and see the turtles in Zante, go jet-skiing off the coast of Benidorm, or even go mountain biking in the Alps.

Unlike some insurers, our European travel insurance even includes some destinations outside mainland Europe like Turkey and Morocco, so please take a look at your policy confirmation email to check your area of cover.
